Child Obesity – The truth about today’s kids Health

Posted by admin on Friday Mar 19, 2010 Under World Cuisine

Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. Today’s parents are neglecting their children’s diet and exercise needs due to busier lifestyles. It is much faster and easier to give children ready meals and fast food and let them eat in front of television than it is to create a healthy meal with fresh ingredients and eat as a family at the table. As a result more children and more are becoming obese, some morbidly obese. This is a very real threat, a serious and potentially fatal for the health of children today. Due to lack of fresh fruit, vegetables and protein in children diets today, besides lack of exercise needed, children are aging prematurely. A study of overweight children showed that: – Of the children studied, the average age was 13 and had the equivalent of adult arteries 45yr old! 9 million children up to age 18 are overweight in the United States alone! Because of the damage inside caused bad diets, overweight children might die until 25yrs later! The percentage of children classified as overweight has more than doubled since the early 70’s! It is estimated that 70% risk of diabetes in the U.S. are attributed to overweight! In the U.S., nearly 2 / 3 of adults are overweight and almost 1 / 3 are obese! Not concerned yet? It should be. None of these statistics are falling, everyone is uploading! A large number of children of today see the exercise as walking across the room to take control of Playstation, or climb the stairs to the bathroom. They are more television than ever, because it is easy to get. Apple pie, eating is the closest we come to the fresh fruit. Socialize these days on the Internet through MSN or social networking sites like Facebook. Our children’s health is suffering and the parents are letting it happen! Changes in the diets of our children back to fruit and vegetables and ran back outside and can not happen soon. Done correctly and with dedication can do. Our children’s health and lives literally depend on parents to ensure they are taught properly, taking into account a healthy diet and sufficient exercise. Start now and do not let your child down. Teach your children to eat healthily and the importance of exercise is a duty of parents. Done properly, will ensure that your child has a better chance of avoiding dangerous diseases such as heart disease in later life. They will also be better prepared when it comes to teaching their own children, grandchildren, how to keep healthy and active. For more information check out http://www.
